Niche Site Project – Making $500 in Passive Income in 6 Months

It’s 2019 and I’m pumped up to start a new niche site project. The New Year always comes with some motivation to do something new. And even though January is already gone, the year is still new and ripe for a new project.

I am starting an Amazon niche site to add to my portfolio of online ventures. Well, technically I’m not starting a new site as I’ve had the site in focus for about 2 years now. I bought the website back in 2017 from someone for $100. Yes, just $100.

It was a rush buy. Coming to think about it now, there was nothing special about the website. I think I was just itching to increase my portfolio of online properties. At the time, the website had 11 articles, each ranging from 500 to 1000 words. My rationale was that I was buying 11 pieces of content for $100. This seemed like a steal!

However, after buying the website and going through the content, I realized it wasn’t really a good investment. The content was poorly written (simple grammar mistakes, poor grasp of the English language, etc.) Apart from this, the owner has built a ton of profile backlinks to the website. Finally, the site was built on an exact match domain name. The usual “bestXproduct.com” domain name.

Needless to say, the site was not ranking anywhere.

After a few months of owning the website, I quickly realized I could not make a viable online business from it. So, I bought an expiring domain name from GoDaddy Auctions and moved the niche site’s content to it.

The new domain name is brandable and will allow me to branch to different areas of the niche I’m targeting, which is important in growing an authority site.

With that said, let’s see some stats.

The Niche Site Plan

The website currently has 23 articles, with more than half of them being 500 words or less.  The current plan is to clean up the articles and expand them to be longer and accommodate more keywords.

Here are the things that need to be done for the website:

i) Create a logo

ii) Install and customize a premium theme

iii) Improve the site speed

iv) Proofread and expand on existing content (based on keyword research)

v) Set up email capture forms

vi) Do keyword research for further articles

vii) Come up with a promotion strategy

I will be following the above to-do list step by step. By the end of February, I hope to remain only with content creation and promotion.

My goal is to get this niche site to be earning at least $500 a month by end of July, 2019. Therefore, I need to move fast and work smart.
